Twilight Fair 2019

Thank You Victor R- 7 School Community!

Wow, what a great turn out, and what a beautiful evening we had for our first Twilight Fair! The students and teachers had some amazing stalls, and the energy on the night was vibrant and fun.  This kind of fair was a great opportunity for students to learn about entrepreneurial ventures and it’s an awesome way for them to have significant input into the fund raising for the upgrade of play equipment.  A massive thank you to the staff who put in many unpaid hours to make this happen.

I hope everyone enjoyed the great selection of food that the Governing Council had available, with an enormous thank you to Sarah Tymko in particular for orchestrating the making of curries, sauces and sushi.  This was no small feat, and she was supported by hard working volunteers but by keeping the food options coming from within the school we were able to keep the profit for our goal rather than outsourcing to outside vendors.  We also wish to thank Rotary Clubs of both Victor Harbor and Encounter Bay for their involvement in the BBQ area. We are thankful for Linda’s Ice Cream and Fudge Fairy Coffee Van that joined us on the night, having donated back some of their profit to help us reach our goal.

We have some very talented students here at Victor R-7 and our poster competition winners Hamarni & Zoe hopefully enjoyed their golden ticket entertainment on the night.  A big thank you to the students that have also given up their lunch time to help make signs for the fair with the amazing Mrs Mel Cronje. Our former deputy principal, Mrs Julie Kelly, volunteered on our committee and was responsible for organising the great entertainment we had on the night.  The school Choir and Strings ensembles should be very proud of their efforts, with our new Music Teacher Belinda Britton stepping up and Mrs Fletcher racing back from Adelaide so the show could go on.  We were also blessed to watch local dance companies Next Step Dance Studio, and Dance with Leah showcase many of our own students in their performances which were definitely a crowd pleaser!  Roxy did a great job with providing the Audio and also being called upon to MC the evening.  The Victor City Band took us through to the end of the evening showcasing amazing talent.  Performing live is a huge responsibility and somewhat scary!  These brave groups did an outstanding job and we are very fortunate to have had them perform for us.

A Fair of this magnitude takes an extraordinary effort from a lot of people and some very generous sponsors. We have had exceedingly generous donations from Woolworths, Veg Out, Victor Harbor Ice, and South Coast Recycling with support from Coles, also individuals who have contributed to make the night happen.  A very big thank you to them all!

Our Governing Council have supported this event with many of them preparing and serving food.  Our Fair Committee has dealt with a number of hurdles and still banded together so a big shout out and thank you to: Andrea Moses-Muir, Mel Cronje, Hannah Hodgkinson, Julie Kelly, Sarah Tymko, Amanda Mitchell, Mandy Josephs, Kate Hancock, Rebecca Newton Mclean, Claire Hastings. We have also had a number of parents volunteer to help out and we sincerely appreciate your time and effort.  The time and donations for class stalls was a testament to our school community!

I hope everyone had a great evening, I thank everyone for supporting the stalls and the food sales.  Thank you so much for coming out and hopefully we’ll be able to upgrade some play equipment in the near future!  Thank you.
