My role as Literacy Focus teacher is to help improve, support and develop reading and literacy across our school. This role allows me to support and work closely with staff and classes on varying areas of need including guided reading, reading strategies, writing and reading programs such as reading eggs, with the goal of building staff expertise in providing an engaging, differentiated, high quality literacy program. We aim to do this by using learner achievement data to inform and guide our practice. I also have the opportunity to seek out relevant professional development opportunities and resources which can be accessed, used and implemented across R-7. Some important goals for this year also include improving reading and comprehension levels across R-7, making improvements in our NAPLAN reading and writing scores and to engage both the school and families in class, whole school and community literacy activities and events; ensuring families are aware and kept up to date with what literacy programs are taking place.
